Communication Resources

College Logos
Identification of any college, department, or unit within Ohio State must follow guidelines for secondary signatures and unit identifiers. Manually pairing the block O with text in any fashion is not permitted. The College of Engineering's approved secondary signature can be downloaded below. Consult usage guidelines for the university logo, college secondary signature and unit/department identifiers.
If you have any questions, please contact Matt Schutte or Katrina Norris.

Digital Photo/Video Assets
- Our college's Media Library (OneDrive) contains photos taken by CoE staff for use by all college communicators. To gain access, email Katrina Norris.
- CoE event photos can be downloaded from the college's Flickr page.
- All CoE communicators should have access to the university's "shared assets" folder within the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. University photos, video footage, and stock photos can be downloaded from the DAM.
Brand Art
University-created art elements can be downloaded from the Brand Center. This includes the buckeye nut, buckeye hull, buckeye leaf, state of Ohio, O-H-I-O silhouette, and Script Ohio.
Per the Brand Center, "any use of Brutus artwork requires review and approval." Contact brandcenter@osu.edu for guidance.
Email Templates and Requests
Accordions
The CoE Communications team supports external, alumni emails sent through Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC). To utilize this service, contact Meggie Biss and Katrina Norris at least two weeks prior to your preferred send date. Allow additional lead time if copy assistance is needed, or your email list is not yet setup in SFMC.
Faculty and staff may access the below resources using their Ohio State name.# account.
Microsoft Outlook
We do not recommend sending the university's branded HTML templates through Microsoft Outlook and can not provide support if this path is chosen. While not impossible, it is very difficult to send HTML email through Outlook with fidelity. Instead, consider formatting the text in Outlook and inserting images to produce an attractive, informative email.
For emails to an internal audience (CoE faculty, staff or students), we recommend utilizing Outlook formatting and sending to a college listserv when possible.
Web server available
The college has a web hosting account with the OCIO which can be used to store online versions of emails, email images and linked files. If needed, CoE communicators can gain access to their individual folder by contacting Katrina Norris in Engineering Communications.
To upload materials, use an SFTP client such as Filezilla (free) or the SFTP client that comes bundled with Adobe Dreamweaver.
The college maintains several private mailing lists to support communication with its constituents. Faculty and staff may access the roster of College of Engineering mailing lists using their name.# account.
Create a branded, customized email signature using the university's email signature generator.
Merchandise and Apparel guidelines
All merchandise and apparel used to represent Ohio State, regardless of content or funds used, requires approval from the following two groups:
- Brand Stewardship Team
- Office of Trademark and Licensing
To obtain this approval, email the appropriate form (below) and your design to brandcenter@osu.edu.
Department/units:
- Review the Brand Center's Swag and Apparel Guidelines
- Complete the University Departments Request Form
Student organizations:
- Review the Brand Center's Student Guidelines using your osu.edu name.# and password credentials (do not use your buckeyemail)
- Review the Requests for Use of Trademarks page
- Complete the Student Organizations Request Form
Proof of both approvals (saved email or signed form) should then be included with your Workday Requisition.
Please reserve two full weeks for the approval process—this should allow both teams time to review and also allow time for possible revisions.
To clarify, this process applies to all merchandise and apparel that is used to represent Ohio State or an Ohio State college/unit/group, regardless of funding (internal or external). Even if "Ohio State" is not written on the item, it must go through the approval process (this excludes student organizations).
While the COE Communications department is not able to approve merchandise and apparel, they are still available to answer branding or design questions. For assistance, please contact Matt Schutte, Director of Communications, or Katrina Norris, Senior Graphic Designer.
