1. (medicine) A hypertrophic skin disorder characterised by rough, dry, thickened skin.
   • 1868, Erasmus Wilson, On diseases of the skin:

     As an inordinate production of epidermis dependent on hypertrophy of the papillæ of the skin, it has a title to a place in this group, while its principal character, namly, that of thickening and condensation of the skin, seems to point to pachylosis (καχὸς, crassitudo) as a fitting description.
