Foreword:
This book contains the proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Sensor Networks (SENSORNETS 2019), which is sponsored and organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and held in cooperation with ACM SIGBED, ACM SIGAPP, ACM SIGOPS, ACM SIGMETRICS, IFSA and IET.
The Conference Program includes oral presentations (full papers and short papers) organized in five tracks: “Sensor Networks Software, Architectures and Applications”, “Wireless Information Networks”, "Energy and Environment", "Intelligent Data Analysis and Processing" and "Security and Privacy in Sensor Networks". Furthermore, the plenary program also includes two plenary keynote lectures, given by Kay Römer (Graz University of Technology, Austria) and Ojaras Purvinis (Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania).
SENSORNETS 2019 received 28 paper submissions from more than 18 countries, of every continent. To evaluate each submission, a double
blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are carefully selected and are highly qualified researchers in SENSORNETS topic areas. Based on the classifications provided, 6 papers were selected as full papers which led to a full paper acceptance ratio of 21%. This strict acceptance ratio shows the intention to preserve a high quality forum which we expect to develop further next year. All papers presented at this conference will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library.
In order to promote the excellence of young researchers and to encourage them in their future contributions, the "Best Student Paper Award" is conferred to the author(s) of the best full paper presented at SENSORNETS 2019, selected by the Program/Conference Chairs based on the best combined marks of paper reviewing as assessed by the Program Committee, and based on the paper presentation quality as assessed by the Session Chairs.
The SENSORNETS conference series intends to be a meeting place where information exchange occurs and where collaboration projects emerge from social contacts amongst the participants.
We would like to express our thanks to all participants, and particularly to the authors, whose quality works provide the essence of this conference. Secondly we owe gratitude to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speaker for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the secretariat: organizing a sizable and reputable conference is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team.
We wish you all an inspiring conference and an unforgettable stay in the lovely city of Prague, Czech Republic. We hope to meet you again next year for SENSORNETS 2020, details of which will soon be available at http://www.sensornets.org.
