In order to tackle the information explosion in the Web era, automated information extraction tools are urgently needed to help people find the useful information from the mass. This paper takes the traditional information extraction as a basis, and propose a Web information extractor RDIE(Rule based DFA driven Information Extractor) which is driven by a DFA(deterministic finite automata). The extraction process of RDIE is elaborate. To evaluate the effectiveness of this information extractor, we implemented an experimental extractor with the proposed design and tested it in the shipping industry domain.
