Abstract
Optical cross-connects are expected to be the key element in future optical transport networks. In this paper, a simple OXC architecture is proposed and its performance evaluated by means of simulations. The main advantage of the proposed design in front of previously reported structures consists in the absence of any tunable component. Obtained results show that the proposed device performance is close to that given by an OXC with full wavelength conversion capability.
