Jürgen Schönwälder is Associate Professor of computer science at the International University Bremen, Germany. His main research areas are network management, distributed systems and network security. He chairs the Network Management Research Group (NMRG) of the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) and serves as a Co-Chair of the Integrated Security Model for SNMP (ISMS) Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). He is editorial board member of the IEEE eTransactions on Network and Service Management and served as guest editor of special issues of the IEEE Communications Magazine and the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. He has been technical program Co-Chair of IM 2003 and DSOM 2005.

Joan Serrat-Fernández received the degree of telecommunication engineering in 1977, and the doctorate degree in telecommunication engineering in 1983, both from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He became Associate Professor at the UPC where he has been involved in several collaborative projects with different European research groups, both through bilateral agreements or through participation in European funded projects. Currently, his topics of interest are network management and service engineering. He is a contributor to technical and scientific fora and magazines. He is also a member of the IEEE and the contact point of the Telemanagement Forum at UPC.
