Abstract
We created a system that enables a user to touch and interact with 3D images formed by a light source device in mid-air. A user can get the haptic feedback without wearing a special device by using focused airborne ultrasound. The pattern of 3D images of 36864 dots and tactile feedback points are fully programmable and updated at the refresh-rate of 18 Hz. Using this system, we demonstrate the feasibility of handling a 3D virtual object.
