Abstract
Works on eliminating the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident required large-scale investigations to analyze and forecast radioactive contamination of the environment. These investigations included observations of soil, air, water and biota contamination (including creation of maps or area contamenation by different radionuclides), modeling and early forecasting of radionuclide transport and transformation processes in air, soil and water, for food-chains [1–4]. When carrying out these investigations and preparing for countermeasure on the basis of corresponding recommendation results we faced a difficulty to process a large body of information and to solve a real-time problem that practically caused as to proceed with designing the Radioecological Analysis Support System (RECASS). The essence of this system is correlation of data on the environment, contamination levels of air, soil, water and biota with mathematical models of radionuclide bihaviour in different media and determination of radiation exposure data from utilization tecnology of geographical information systems (GIS).
