Zusammenfassung
Fortschritte auf dem Gebiet der Glasfasertechnologie ermöglichen heute Netze mit Übertragungsraten im hohen Megabit/s-Bereich. Diese Netze sind darüber hinaus in der Lage, relativ große geographische Distanzen zu überdecken. Im Vergleich zum Design ‘klassischer’ Lokaler Netze wird eine weitgehende Neukonzeption der eingesetzten Protokolle erforderlich, von der insbesondere die unteren Ebenen des ISO-Referenzmodells betroffen sind. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die derzeit wichtigsten Protokolle zur Regelung des Medienzugangs in Hochgeschwindigkeitsnetzen und diskutiert deren Leistungsfähigkeit unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Fairness-Aspekten.
