Abstract
High-speed wireless networking technologies become commodity wireless standards in recent mobile computing. It has a capability of large amount of data delivering over vehicular networks even the vehicle is moving. For instance, the 802.11ac standard contains beamforming which could help to improve deliverability of data over V2X communication. In the past our research, this feature was confirmed on V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communication between vehicle and improvised roadside communication unit. This paper investigates the network performance over V2X cognitive wireless system in realistic road environment. The installation of roadside communication unit in this evaluation is similar as a permanently setup and its height is assumed at the top of traffic and signal lighting poles. We also report the performance of V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) communication which is based on beamforming technology while both vehicles are running in actual public road. We have confirmed that our wireless system design was compatible to deliver large amount data with longer distance and while passing each other.
