Accountability Agents perform a key role in the APEC Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) System and the Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP)
System by certifying that the privacy policies and practices of participating companies are compliant with the CBPR and PRP Systems program requirements.
Through the APEC CBPR and PRP Systems, Accountability Agents work collaboratively with companies, consumers and governments to ensure that cross-border data transfers meet the standards required by the APEC Privacy Framework and, where possible, resolve any disputes should they arise.
As an APEC CBPR System recognised Accountability Agent, you can use the CBPR Intake Questionnaire and CBPR Program Requirements to assess whether companies and other organisations are APEC CBPR System compliant OR you may use your own privacy certification program requirements after demonstrating to member economies that they meet the CBPR program requirements. As an APEC PRP System recognized Accountability Agent, you can use the PRP Program Requirements OR you may use your own privacy certification program requirements after demonstrating to member economies that they meet the PRP program requirements.
