Singapore 2024: Connecting in Special Sessions
The theme of ISMRM 2024 is “Connecting the World of MR.” Connecting different sub-fields. Connecting clinicians, physicists, radiographers, biologists, and more. And of course connecting the regions of the world.
Beyond the plenary lectures and sessions; it is about the connections made beyond the confines of the traditional meeting format. As we look to this year’s event, I am excited to share a preview of some sessions specifically designed to foster connection, and help you be part of vibrant global networks of MR professionals and trainees committed to advancement and impact.
Clinical Focus Meeting: MRI: Transforming Diagnosis & Care in Trauma challenges us to think about how MRI is used in acute and chronic trauma and where opportunities lie to extend its role.
Democratising MRI: Maximising Impact in Low Resource Settings: An entire session focused on how we can work together to bring MRI to more regions of the world, which have very different challenges.
Sustainability in MRI: How can we make both the practice of MRI and the efforts of the society more sustainable, to reduce adverse impact on climate change.
Clinical Translation: Unmet Needs 2023-24 and 2024-25 Challenge: How to identify and communicate high-impact clinical needs between clinical and basic science researchers.
Repeat It with Me: Reproducibility Challenge: Connecting research groups to encourage reproducible and confirmative science.
Technology Covering Global MRI Access: A scientific session featuring technology that can help improve access globally.
Junior Fellows: Innovations and Future Perspectives in MRI Technology: Entirely envisioned by our trainees, a focus on the role of technology applied to clinical care.
Secret Sessions: Trainee-led sessions connecting more junior members and offering scientific and career guidance.
Junior Fellows Shark Tank: Connecting innovative startup concepts and ideas with industry leaders.
Member-Initiated Sessions: ISMRM members offering complementary content to the annual meeting, both to highlight broad areas and to focus on specific professional, scientific, and implementational developments.
Journal Reviewer Introduction: Our journals remain the permanent record of our science—learn to be a journal reviewer!
Singapore 2016 Concepts: Where are they in 2024? A look back at some prominent areas discussed in 2016, how they’ve advanced, and what challenges remain.
Education: So many areas for NEW connection: Absolute Beginners Guides, fMRI for All, Innovation at the Interface Between Academia and Industry, MR Contrasts Across Field Strengths: When Is Less More? Finally, consider MR Physics for Clinicians and Data scientists, a course that has run as long as I’ve been at ISMRM (take a guess!).
The 2024 Program-at-a-Glance is almost complete, with abstracts available on 19 April, so start planning!
In April, I’ll cover details of navigating the meeting and more about Singapore! For now, here are some dates to remember:
- 03 April: Submission of Unmet Needs for 2024-25 Challenge
- 10 April: Final date for Repeat it with Me: Reproducibility Challenge
- 19 April: Full program goes live with abstracts!
- 26 April: Deadline to submit Digital Posters
