Dr. Ram Prasad received his Doctor of Philosophy (Biosciences) in 2009 from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. After completion of his doctoral research, He joined Department of Dermatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, AL, USA, and worked on chemoprevention of different cancers including skin, pancreatic, lung, head & neck, etc. using in-vitro and in-vivo models. Further, Dr. Prasad joined Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences as scientist-I and started working on diabetes and diabetic microvascular complications. Dr. Prasad has published more than 40 publications as author/co-author. His research interest has focused on studying the molecular targets, particularly immunological alterations induced by UV radiation, oxidative stress, inflammation, DNA damage and DNA repair, epigenetic modifications, migration, invasion, microRNAs, diabetes, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Prasad is an associate member of various organizations including AACR, SID, ARVO, ADA and serves as an editorial board member of American Journal of Biomedical and Life Sciences, International Journal of Immunology, American Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering. He is a potential reviewer in more than 30 peer reviewed journals.
