Mike is a Principal Security Engineer in Identity and Access Management at Amazon, where he plays a pivotal role in providing guidance for the company’s customer identity and authentication initiatives. Upholding a commitment to safeguard over one billion consumer accounts, Mike leverages his expertise to ensure the strongest protection and security for Amazon’s customers.
Previously, he was the Executive Director of USAA’s Member Identity and Authentication team where he led a team of security experts to provide world class authentication solutions to USAA members, allowing them to access their accounts with the maximum degree of security and usability.
Mike has over 20 years experience in providing cybersecurity and fraud leadership across a breadth of roles to include identity and authentication, information security risk management, application security and cyber threat mitigation. He has experience running multimillion-dollar, enterprise level strategic efforts that mitigate cybersecurity risk. He is passionate about helping others to protect themselves from evolving threats in an increasingly hostile threat landscape.
Mike graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in Networking and Data Communications. He also received a Masters Degree in Information Technology with an emphasis in cybersecurity from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mike is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
