Most existing Hough transform techniques use a sharp (crisp) cutoff to determine whether the bin has received a vote or not. This results in considerable errors. In this paper, we propose a new line Hough transform (LHT) using evidence accumulation and fuzzy aggregation function. The resulting voting process is dependent on the distance \u03c1 from the grid centers. This effectively handles uncertainty in the accumulation process and achieves a better performance. To show the effectiveness this approach, we present our experimental results for a set of 2D parametric and 3D nonparametric objects. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1142\/s0219467802000809","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2002,11,25]],"date-time":"2002-11-25T05:16:49Z","timestamp":1038201409000},"page":"603-616","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["A FUZZY HOUGH TRANSFORM APPROACH TO SHAPE DESCRIPTION"],"prefix":"10.1142","volume":"02","author":[{"given":"R.","family":"SOODAMANI","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computing Science, Middlesex University, London, UK"}]},{"given":"Z.
