The 50th Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) and the 7th Taiwan International AIoT Show (AIoT Taiwan) opened at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei from October 23 to 25. Both trade events brought together key players in Taiwan’s electronics manufacturing and related fields.

Together, the shows gathered more than 300 of Taiwan’s leading electronics and electronic component manufacturers and companies in the information and telecommunications industry. Collectively, they set up 550 booths to showcase cutting-edge digital technologies and related products, such as artificial intelligence (AI) linked to IoT.

TAITRONICS, celebrating its 50th anniversary, was crowded with visitors from the first day of the exhibition. It was organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA).

The theme of this year’s TAITRONICS and AIoT Taiwan is “AInnovation Now. Focusing on the four main areas of “AI and IoT Applications,” “Low-Orbit Satellites,” “New Kinetic Energy,” and “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles,” most exhibitors focused on AI, IoT and 5G-related topics. In addition to smart IoT sensors, cloud applications, and 5G exhibits, AIoT Taiwan has newly established the “AI Application Area,” “Drone Area,” and “Startup Area” to explore the latest trends in seven areas.

Simon Wang, President & CEO of TAITRA, said, “For the past 50 years, each company has been committed to creating valuable products for the development of Taiwan’s electronics industry. We will continue to work closely with electronics and ICT companies to lead Taiwan’s trade industry,” expressing his enthusiasm of the ICT industry.

According to TAITRA, Taiwan’s foreign trade value of exports to date this year is US$780 billion and is expected to reach US$800 billion for the full year. Particularly, exports from January to September expanded 10.2% year-on-year. Wang expressed his renewed view that the ICT industry, in particular, is growing remarkably.”We would like to contribute to Taiwan’s growth in cooperation with related companies,” he said.

Primarily, the Taiwanese government is focusing on the drone industry. At this year’s exhibition, a new “Drone Taiwan Pavilion” was established with 24 companies participating. Particularly, the latest unmanned vehicles and related AI application software and key components were exhibited to introduce Taiwan’s drone industry on a large scale.

First-time exhibitor, Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation presented its ELTRES receiver at the AIoT Taiwan. This is the first time that Sony introduced the product, which began mass production this year to the global market. The company said, “We received many visitors from Southeast Asia, the U.S., and Europe, and received a lot of positive feedback. We will first focus on sales promotion in Taiwan and use it as a foothold to expand into the Asian market.”
