Dyson announces its 360 Heurist robotic vacuum, a nice improvement over the 360 Eye

Dyson, one of the biggest names in vacuums, launched its first robotic vacuum way back in 2015. Today, we’re getting a new peek at the latest offering from the vacuum company.

The Dyson 360 Heurist, which was announced in Beijing earlier today, with some nice upgrades. You’ll get a better processor and maneuvering, a LED light ring around the top camera, and more.

Dyson is generally one of the highest-rated vacuum manufacturers on the market, and the company includes stellar warranties with its products. Many people choose this company due to the product’s longevity, meaning you buy once and use for years.

The company’s latest robotic vacuum is a high-end model, for sure. The 360 Eye was a unique offering that packed a camera on the top to track where it had been and already cleaned, and what it needed to do still.

There were some shortcomings to the 360 Eye, however. If it was dark, it wouldn’t see well, and it could cause the vacuum to miss spots easily. To solve this, Dyson added a LED ring around the camera this time.

The processor upgrade helps the machine pick up 60% more detail about its environment and reduces the chances of bumping into something by around 50%, according to Engadget.

You’ll have around 20% more suction power in the new 360 Heurist, meaning that this vacuum can clean more thoroughly. This robotic vacuum will have around a 40-minute runtime before it needs to recharge, so it can easily clean most of your home before needing to take a break.

You’ll be able to control the Dyson 360 Heurist with your voice by using Amazon Alexa-enable devices, and sadly there is no HomeKit support information at this point.

One feature that Dyson lacks here is self-emptying, which we recently saw announced in iRobot’s latest Roomba i7+ which is offered be $950. Though the iRobot is the only mainstream vacuum around with this feature, it’s something to look for on future releases and adds an extra level of convenience.

Though there’s no exact pricing for the US release, the Dyson 360 Heurist is set to launch at about $150 under the previous 360 Eye price in China, which is promising that it could receive a drop in price.

For instance, Best Buy still sells the 360 Eye for $1,000 three full years after its release, which means Dyson believes its vacuums hold their value over time.

Will Dyson’s name in vacuums be enough to sway you away from established and more affordable brands like ECOVACS, iRobot, and others? Let us know in the comments below or on socials!
