Today, HTC will take the wraps off its latest addition to the One handset family. The One A9 is expected to feature an all-metal body, but more slim-lined and without the trademark front-facing speakers of current HTC flagships. HTC’s #BeBrilliant event is going to start at 12pm Eastern/9am Pacific/5pm British Summer Time, and will be available to watch live online. Google has just kicked off its press event, where it’s expected to unveil next-gen Chromecast and Nexus devices alongside other announcements, but it started with an update on company numbers and more.

Among the numbers, Google’s Sundar Pichai confirmed that it’s introducing around 30,000 new Chromebooks everyday with around 10,000 companies using or testing the company’s new Android for Work platform. Google announced its new Android for Work platform back in February, opening up a dedicated Google Play store and other features specifically for enterprise users.

The company also said that it’s now at 1 billion active Google Play users with around 1.4 billion active Android devices over the last 30 days and 20 million Chromecasts sold to date.

Google’s September 29th event — the company’s biggest press-facing event since Google I/O 2015 — is scheduled to kick off tomorrow. And while there are definitely some things that haven’t managed to hit the rumor mill quite yet (or maybe not?), a lot of the company’s biggest announcements for tomorrow aren’t secret. Huawei has started sending out invitations to an event on September 2nd in Berlin, Germany. The invites fit in perfectly with previous speculation that the Chinese manufacturer would use IFA as its platform to launch a new smartphone. What’s interesting about these invites is that they seemingly hint at the name of the upcoming device.

The Moto X Style — called Moto X Pure Edition in the US — phones we got to play with at the end of today’s event were obviously very pure Android and with their much larger displays and heavy batteries very much reminiscent of the Nexus 6 that I’m carrying around. The one big and important difference is the Sony 21MP shooter on the back that in limited testing makes all the difference.

After months upon months of rumors and speculation, OnePlus finally announced its highly anticipated OnePlus 2 smartphone this evening. While nearly everything was already known about the device, it’s nice to get confirmation and some rehashing of details from OnePlus. As expected, the OnePlus 2 features a 5.5-inch display at 1080p and a refreshed design. The company brags that it’s not a 2015 flagship, but rather a 2016 flagship. The device will be available August 11th in the US,  Canada, India, EU, and China. It will rollout to Southeast Asia in Q4.

Nest has a press conference planned for June 17th, but Tony Fadell and company haven’t mentioned—nor hinted—up to this point what they might be working on. Possibilities range from a refreshed Nest Thermostat, to new hardware for the company’s Protect CO2 and smoke alarm, to new Dropcam hardware, to a sweet new smart mailbox (maybe based on Google’s April Fools joke from earlier this year?).

Reports have claimed that the Google-owned company has an entire lineup of new hardware in the works, including new versions of all of these products (sans the mailbox, of course). We can corroborate this information, as we’ve also heard from people familiar with the products in testing that Nest does indeed have new hardware being trialled in small groups, along with a brand new app that will tie everything together…
