Samsung confirms One UI 7 beta will be public as some doubted it

The upcoming release of Samsung’s One UI 7 update is confusing and unusual, and a specific quote had some worried that the beta wouldn’t be released publicly. Samsung, though, has confirmed that the beta will be available to those interested in trying it.

As a part of its annual developer conference last week, Samsung confirmed that its One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, is heavily delayed. Where One UI 6 and Android 14 launched in October 2023, One UI 7 won’t launch until the Galaxy S25 is released in early 2025.

As per usual, though, One UI 7 will get a beta release beforehand, which Samsung says will be coming “before the end of the year.”

However, Samsung’s reveal there included an asterisk of sorts, as Samsung said the beta will “be available to developers” by the end of the year.

One UI 7 beta will be available to developers before the end of this year.

This caused some to wonder if Samsung intended to release a public beta at all. While the context of the quote seems fairly obvious – this was announced at a developer conference after all – Samsung has confirmed the beta will be publicly released. On Samsung’s forums, tipster Tarun Vats started a thread to get clarification, in which a Samsung moderator confirmed that “you will be notified on Samsung Members once the Beta starts.”

Again, it’s rather obvious what Samsung was getting at during the announcement, but it’s certainly nice to get some explicit confirmation given the confusing nature of this year’s annual Android update for Samsung devices.
