今の建物は1964 年に建てられ、一時は Wishbone Bar & Grill が入っていたが、
現在は Freedom Hall Event Center になっている。
ここは the Postville Courthouse の向かいにある歴史的な場所で、
すぐそばに歴史的なマーカーがある。

Dr. John Deskins が 1836 年に建てた Tavern で、
Abraham Lincoln を始め、David Davis 他の弁護士達が、
the Postville Court House で ８ 箇所の司法巡回裁判所が会議をやっている間に、
ここで夜を明かしていた。
裁判官、弁護士、被告人、証人、陪審員、囚人達が時々同じテーブルで食事をしていた事も。
設立者 ； The Lincoln Kiwanis、ライオンズクラブ ＆ ロータリークラブ、Illinois 州歴史協会 1964 年」
1836 年に Logan County のシェリフ Dr. Deskins が建てた Tavern で、
１ 階建ての建物を建て、それから 1837 年に 2 階を増築した。
1840 年に、通りの向かい側に the Postville Courthouse が建てられるまで、
ここは裁判所として使われていた。
その点で歴史的に重要。
裁判所が建てられると、関係者が時間外にここに集まって、エンターテインメントを楽しんだが、
時には、競争、けんか、ギャンブルのような事もあった。
夕方にはレクシャーが行われていることもあったが、みんな暖炉の側での会話を楽しみ、
Lincoln は物語を喋ったり、ジョークを飛ばしたりで、注目の的だった。

“ Deskins Inn was a stopping place for lawyers and judges who worked the old 8th Judicial Circuit in Central Illinois during the 1840s. This location was significant because it was directly across the street from the Postville Courthouse. A replica of Logan County's first courthouse is located on the site of the original building.
Postville was the first county seat of Logan County when the county came into existence in 1839, largely through the efforts of a young Springfield legislator, Abraham Lincoln. David Davis was the judge in many of the cases tried by Lincoln and later served as his "campaign manager" at the 1860 Chicago convention that nominated him for president.
Lincoln frequently told a story of an incident that was to have occurred at the Deskins Inn. While Lincoln was staying there one evening, a fellow came to the door and asked where he might purchase some whiskey. After several attempts to secure a drink from innkeeper Deskins, who was insisting that he had none, the man was to have said, "Great heavens, give me an ear of corn and tin cup and I'll make it myself."
