1. Using the Content of the Ministry of the Environment Website
Information made available on the Ministry of the Environment website (http://www.env.go.jp/) (hereinafter referred to as the "Content") may be freely used, copied, publicly transmitted, translated or otherwise modified on condition that the user complies with provisions from 1) to 7) below, with the exception of the Content where other terms of use shall be applied. Commercial use of the Content is also permitted (For the Content where other terms of use shall apply, please refer to Section 2, Content where Other Terms of Use shall Apply).
Use of the Content constitutes agreement by the user with these terms of use for using the Content. (Hereinafter referred to as "Terms of Use").
1) Source Citation
- The user shall cite the source when using the Content. Sources should be cited in the following manner:

- If you have edited the Content for use, you shall include a statement expressing that the Content has been edited, in addition to the above-mentioned source citation. Making public or using edited information in a format that may be misconstrued as having been created by the Government of Japan (or its ministries and/or agencies) is prohibited.

2) No Infringement of Third Party's Rights
- In some cases, a Third Party (refers to a party other than the state) may hold copyrights or other rights to a part of the Content. For Content where a Third Party holds copyrights or other rights (e.g. portrait rights in a photograph, publicity rights, etc.), it is the responsibility of the user to obtain consent for use from the Third Party unless there is explicit indication that the rights have already been cleared.
- If a Third Party holds rights to a part of the Content, the said fact may be directly or indirectly stated or indicated through source citations, etc., but in some cases the part of the Content to which the Third Party holds the rights may not be identified or explicitly stated. It is the responsibility of the user to confirm the rights pertaining to use of the Content.
- The user shall comply with the terms and conditions of the source provider for Content obtained through API (Application Programming Interface) links to external databases, etc.
- Even if a Third Party holds copyrights or other rights to the Content, some use of the Content, such as quoting, may be allowed without the consent of the holder of copyrights, etc., under the Copyright Act of Japan.
3) Contents where Use is Restricted by Specific Laws and/or Ordinances
- Use of some Content may be restricted by specific laws and/or ordinances. Laws and ordinances listed below are particularly important to note:
Restriction of replication and use when using the map (Basic Survey Results) developed by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan based on Survey Act
Some of the content of the Ministry of the Environment website uses the map developed by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan.
Regarding the replication distribution and secondary using of a certain format of the map (the Basic Survey Results) based on Survey Act, the user shall obtain approval from the head of the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan.

- Content with a source citation that indicates using of the map developed by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan
- Content with a word registered as a trademark by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (Examples: CYBERJAPAN) in source citations, etc.
4) Governing Law and Jurisdiction by Agreement
- The Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
- In case of disputes relating to the use of the Content based on the Terms of Use and the Terms of Use, the user agrees that the district court with jurisdiction over the location of the organization that has published the disputed Content/Terms of Use shall be the exclusive court of first instance.
5) Disclaimer
- The state bears absolutely no responsibility for any act taken by the user involving the use of the Content (including use of information based on edited Content).
- The Content may be modified, moved or deleted without prior notice.
6) Other
- The Terms of Use do not limit such types of uses allowed under Copyright Act of Japan as citation.
- The Terms of Use was established on 18 May 2016. The Terms of Use is based on the Government of Japan Standard Terms and Conditions (Version 2.0). The Terms of Use may be modified in the future. In cases where the Content is used in accordance with the previous version of the Government of Japan Standard Terms and Conditions, such terms and conditions shall continue to apply.
- The Terms of Use is compatible with Creative Commons License Attribution 4.0 International (the terms and conditions for licensing to exercise copyright and similar rights, provided on the webpage https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.ja, Hereinafter referred to as "CC BY"), and the Content to which the Terms of Use shall apply may be also used in accordance with CC BY.

A party other than the Ministry of the Environment is not allowed to use the Ministry of the Environment logo.

In principle, links to the Ministry of the Environment website may be made without prior permission. However, please observe the following points. Linking to particular Content should also be conducted observing these points:
