Benchmarks that set a new industry standard
for network performance testing
Written and developed to the specifications of CMP's editors -- experts in a broad range of large-scale networked environments -- CMPmetrics afford networking professionals the ability to measure their own systems' performance, with the knowledge that all products tested have been put through the same exacting standards our editors use when testing products in their publications.

ProLiant ML530: Ideal Server for The Enterprise and E-Commerce
(Network Computing: May 29, 2000)
The Compaq ProLiant ML530 midrange enterprise server replaces the Compaq ProLiant 3000 family of servers. Inside and out, the ML530 has been retooled to handle the ever-increasing demands that enterprise computing places on application and Web servers. We tested the new ML530 in the Schneider National labs in Green Bay, Wisconsin. From the ground up, this server is designed to drive those applications that demand high bandwidth, low latency and blazingly fast response times.

Test Methodology
(InformationWeek: May 8, 2000)
InformationWeek recently tested wireless bridges using attenuators to simulate distance and signal loss. Their objective was to generate enough traffic to flood the wireless bridges with data and measure their performance under variable attenuation. See the details.

How We Tested
(InternetWeek: May 8, 2000)
InternetWeek recently tested switches at the Advanced Network Computing Laboratory at the University of Hawaii. Since their primary goal was testing switches at the core, they only attached one edge switch to each core switch, rather than the two or three they usually use. See their results.

Wireless Bridges Span the Divide
(Network Computing: May 1, 2000)
Looking for a new way to reduce data throughput costs and boost performance? If the expense and limitations of underground wiring are a downer, consider letting your data take flight with the latest wireless Ethernet bridges. We tested nine 10- to 12-Mbps solutions for small and medium-sized LANs.

Wireless LANs -- Look, Ma... No Wires
(InternetWeek: March 20, 2000)
Hang onto your hats; wireless just got useful. To get the inside scoop on the new wireless LAN (WLAN) segment, InternetWeek issued their typical product-test call and got responses from five brave vendors. See the testing details.
