AI, Analytics and 2025 Aviation Advancements

Looking ahead to 2025, the aviation industry must stay at the forefront of technological advancements. NEC is committed to supporting airports, airlines and aviation leaders by continuously innovating.

From digital ID and mobile boarding to digital twin analytics for airports and automated baggage counting, we’re staying at the leading edge of AI and biometric solutions.

Mobile Biometric Boarding

Our new mobile applications feature high-tech, easy to deploy mounts, and off-the-shelf smartphones. The proven mobile apps can be seamlessly deployed and operational at airline gates in just days, without significant infrastructure or overhead.

The secure, automated passenger verification solution is designed to streamline passenger boarding operations while maintaining the highest level of security and privacy. Deployed at several locations within the U.S., agents have fast and secure passenger boarding confirmation at their fingertips, while addressing U.S. Custom and Border Protection’s biometric verification goals in partnership with airlines and airports. Additionally, agents are freed up to address more relevant passenger needs.

Airport Digital Twin Analytics

NEC’s Airport Analytics solution suite is integrated with Emu Analytics’ Digital Twin Flo.w software. Without the risk of interrupting airport operations, Flo.w and NEC Airport Analytics enable dynamic, real-time situational awareness of airside airport operations. Plus, revisit historic points in time to measure patterns of recurring behaviors to reduce inefficiencies. The solution consolidates real-time data sources to provide widely accessible insights for monitoring, alerting, and rapid decision-making allowing for streamlined operations and cost savings.

Baggage Analytics

NEC Baggage Analytics recently completed a successful live trial with a global air carrier. The solution detects and identifies the number, size and type of hand-carried baggage screened in real-time during the boarding process. This allows agents to truly focus on the customer experience while our innovative solution automatically tracks baggage counts and provides real time overhead capacity alerts. No more manual counts or constant calls between the gate and crew. Simply configure a bag count threshold and initiate gate checks as overhead capacity is reached.

Digital ID

NEC’s Digital ID solution is safe, secure, efficient, and with privacy at the core. Travelers enroll using mobile devices by snapping a selfie and scanning their passport. Once registered, their face becomes a unique Digital ID that can be used for multiple use cases, enabling secure, personalized, and interoperable identity profiles. From secure and easy check-in to face pay and a walk-through boarding process, the customer is always in control to share their Digital ID or not.
