In December 2017、YOTA Japan was launched as a private organization.
On March 1, 2022, we incorporated YOTA Japan and officially establish “Youngsters on the Air Japan” as a non-profitable association.
2017年12月、任意団体として YOTA Japan が発足。
2022年3月1日、法人化し、一般社団法人Youngsters on the Air Japan を設立しました。
What is YOTA?
YOTAって何？
Youngsters on the Air, or YOTA, is a large project to encourage young amateurs. It has been really successful in Europe and IARU Reg.1.
YOTA started in 2011 targeting Europe, with its basic idea: “BY youngsters, FOR youngsters, FROM the VIEWPOINT of youngsters.” In 2014, it became a direct subordinate to the IARU Reg.1 Committee as its performances had been appreciated.
Now the whole hamradio society is paying attention to YOTA ‘s achievement as the centre of amateurs’ renaissance.
YOTA(Youngsters On The Air)は、IARU第一地域の主催する、26歳未満の若者を対象とした若手育成プロジェクトです。
毎年、各国連盟持ち回りで世界大会が開催され、教育の専門家によって開発されたカリキュラムにより、DXやコンテストをはじめ、ARDF、デジタルモードや衛星通信の伝授、トランシーバーキットの自作など、アマチュア無線に関するあらゆる要素を、7日間で出来るだけ数多く体験します。2017年はイギリスで開催され、日本を含む合計27カ国から80名が参加しました。2018年は南アフリカ共和国での開催が予定されています。
YOTAでは、参加者とさほど歳の離れていない若者がリーダーとして指導にあたったり、若者が企画運営の中心となったりと、「若者が，若者の視点で，若者を育てる」ことが成功の鍵と考えています。また、今の若者の考えや興味の対象など、「若者の生の声」にしっかりと耳を傾けることを重要視しています。
日本では、残念ながら、まだあまり理解が進んでいませんが、今やヨーロッパだけでなく、アフリカ、中近東、アメリカなど、世界中のハムが、「アマチュア再興」の大旋風の中心核としてYOTAに注目しています。

What is YOTA Japan?
YOTA Japanって何？
On August 2017, two Japanese young amateurs were in London to participate with YOTA UK summer camp, as the very first hams who took part in YOTA from Asia & Pacific region. They were so impressed and inspired by vivid experiences during the event and by a lot of lively smiles of all the participants. Then, they vowed: “we should launch YOTA-like project in our country!”
Our “YOTA Japan” is just on the starting line now. However, we believe that our project will bring fresh atmosphere and new friends into ham world!
欧州 YOTA の理念に賛同し、日本において新しい若手アマチュア無線家を迎え入れ、また健全な若手アマチュア無線家を育成・支援するためのコミュニティです。
2017年8月、日本から2人のアマチュア無線家が、欧州YOTAの世界大会へ参加しました。アジア・オセアニア地域からは初めてのことです。このメンバーが中心となり、「日本でもYOTAのようなプロジェクトを作りたい！」と始めたのが、YOTA Japanです。我が国でもすでに青少年育成プロジェクトは数多く活動していますが、すでに成功しているヨーロッパの方法を肌で学んだ人材と、欧州YOTAとの緊密な協力体制があること、これらが私達の強みであると自負しています。
このプロジェクトはようやくスタートラインに立ったばかりですが、やがて、新たな仲間とともに、アマチュア無線界の閉塞感を打破し新風を吹き込むことになると、私たちは確信しています。
How are these two projects related?
YOTAとYOTA Japanの関係は？
YOTA is now a official working group of IARU Region 1, which we are not. Neither, we are not belonging to JARL (Japan Amateur Radio League) nor IARU R3. But it is our honour that YOTA Japan is one of the earliest and the most long-running YOTA family in the world, and that, since our start, YOTA has been officially recognising and treating us as “YOTA project in Japan”!
欧州 YOTA は現在 IARU 第一地域委員会のワーキンググループとして位置づけられています。一方、YOTA Japan は現在、IARU R3 や JARL とは完全に独立した一般社団法人です。しかしながら YOTA Japan は、世界の「YOTAファミリー」の中でも、世界でも最も早く発足し、また長く続いているプロジェクトの一つであり、欧州の本家 YOTA からも、日本のYOTA活動として認められています。
